Welcome to SLO Village Movement

At SLO Village Movement (SVM), we’re reimagining what it means to age together in community. As a nonprofit, membership-based organization, we help older adults stay engaged, supported, and connected through neighborly assistance, enriching social gatherings, and helpful services.

Our vision is simple and powerful:
To create an age-friendly movement where all stages of life offer meaningful opportunities for growth, connection, and joy.

Whether you're looking for community, a helping hand, meaningful activities, or just a friendly face, SLO Village Movement is here for you.

If you’re visiting for the first time, we invite you to explore our About page to learn more about the Village model or watch Village Movement California’s video for a broader introduction to the statewide movement.

If you’re ready to get involved, we’d love to have you join us as a Member, Volunteer or Community Partner and help strengthen the connections that make our community thrive. If you have questions or want to learn more, we’re happy to talk.

Call (805) 242-6440 or email office@slovillage.org anytime.

Staying Vertical

Fall prevention education is foundational to carrying out SVM’s core mission. Recent budget cuts to SLO County’s Healthy Aging Program includes the elimination of its fall prevention workshops, community fitness, and home inspection programs. SVM seeks to fill these gaps, starting with Staying Vertical | A New Approach to Fall Prevention, featuring the groundbreaking documentary, The ‘Saving Claire’ Project. Village Impact

Our vision for SVM is simple and bold: to build an age-friendly movement where every stage of life offers real opportunity for connection, support, and joy. In our 2025 Impact Report, you’ll see that vision in action. Not only in numbers, but in everyday moments.

We are deeply grateful for the impact SLO Village Movement continues to have on this community. That impact exists because of you.

To our generous financial supporters and Board of Directors, to the volunteers who serve so faithfully both in front of and behind the scenes, to our members who uplift one another, thank you.  2025 Impact Report

Connection Café

Connection Café is a twice-monthly gathering where neighbors connect, learn, and share meaningful conversations. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. One gathering features an educational speaker on a specialized topic, and the other offers open discussion guided by a prompt and simple activity. Come to listen, share, and enjoy connection in a welcoming, low-pressure space.

It Takes A Village

By 2030, California will be home to 10.8 million older adults, accounting for one-quarter of the state’s population. 34% of our state’s older adults will be moderate- and middle-income, without Medicaid benefits. California is responding to these demographic changes by implementing a Master Plan for Aging.
